POSTCARDS FROM AFGHANISTAN, No. 11

School’s out throughout America and the students feel blessed. These kids below feel blessed to be squeezed into a classroom for an hour or two a day. Hey, but this postcard is from 2006, so you can count on every last one of these girls to be married and imprisoned under a burqa, with a couple of kids at least, and not even a first-grade primer to be found around the mud compound to even try and remember their ABCs by. Oh and by the way, forget that “With the Taliban gone” nonsense in the caption; with the Taliban now eight years later stronger than ever, these schools don’t even exist anymore….but for charred ruins. 11-C-2295 School girls, comp6
