It’s been a while since I posted here one of these postcard blasts from the past, but with school back in session or soon to be here in America, I thought this might help with getting the kids off to their luxurious modern classrooms. The “classroom” here is a canvas UNICEF tent.
I shot the photo back in 2002, then created the postcard from Afghanistan in 2006, and this many years later, what do you want to bet that every last one of these girls no longer leaves the family compound without being fully clad in a blue burka and that most have popped out at least a couple of kids who themselves, if they’re females too, won’t ever see the inside of any classroom, building or tent. Not that there’s anything wrong with that.
